A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §61-2-7a, relating to making it a felony to attempt to kill another person; and establishing a penalty.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

ARTICLE 2. CRIMES AGAINST THE PERSON.

§61-2-7a. Attempt to kill; penalty.

Notwithstanding any provision in this code to the contrary, with the exception of §61-2-7 of this code, if any person commits any act with intent to kill another person, he or she is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be confined in a state correctional facility not less than three nor more than 15 years.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to make it a felony to attempt to kill another person. The bill establishes a penalty.
