A BILL to amend and reenact §39-4-6 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, relating to permitting personal appearance by video technology before notarial officer.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


ARTICLE 4. REVISED UNIFORM LAW ON NOTARIAL ACTS.


§39-4-6. Personal appearance required.

If a notarial act relates to a statement made in or a signature executed on a record, the individual making the statement or executing the signature shall appear personally before the notarial officer. An For the purposes of this section, an individual making the statement or executing the signature does not appear appears personally if the appearance is by video or audio technology. even if the video is synchronous

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to permit personal appearance by video technology.
