A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18C-9-7, relating to extending the West Virginia Invests Grant programs to public and private four-year institutions who have two-year programs that meet the eligibility requirements of the grant program.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


ARTICLE 9. WEST VIRGINIA INVESTS GRANT PROGRAM.

§18C-9-7. Eligibility for students of two-year programs at four-year public and private institutions.

Notwithstanding any other provision of this article to the contrary, students enrolled in a two-year program at a regionally accredited four-year public or private institution satisfying the requirements of participating in Advanced Career Education program partnerships in accordance with §18-2E-11 of this code are eligible for a WV Invests Grant to the same degree and under the same conditions as students attending “eligible institutions” as that term is defined in §18C-9-3 of this code:  Provided, That the maximum amount of the grant for students receiving the grant pursuant to this section shall be the maximum amount under §18C-9-4(b)(2) of this code except that the tuition amount used to calculate the maximum amount may not exceed the tuition charged by the “eligible institution” charging the highest tuition.

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to extend the West Virginia Invests Grant programs to public and private four-year institutions who have two-year programs that meet the eligibility requirements of the grant program.
