A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-5-15e, relating to requiring schools to post signs displaying the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline number in certain areas of the school and giving the State Superintendent rulemaking authority.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended and reenacted by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-5-15e, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 5. COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

§18-5-15e. Posting of National Child Abuse Hotline number; rulemaking authority.

(a) Each school shall post a sign that contains the toll-free Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline number in the following locations:

(1) In a clearly visible location in a public area of the school that is readily accessible to students; and

(2) In a clearly visible location in an area of the school that is regularly open to visitors and parents.

(b) The State Superintendent may adopt rules relating to the size and location of the signs required by this section.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require schools to post signs displaying the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline number.
