A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §6-7-1a, relating to
providing a one thousand dollar increase to all state
employees who do not otherwise receive a salary increase
during the two thousand five regular session of the
Legislature.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §6-7-1a, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 7. COMPENSATION AND ALLOWANCES.
§6-7-1a. Across the board salary increase for certain state
employees.
Effective the first day of July, two thousand five, every
full-time or part-time salaried or hourly employee of the state
shall receive a salary increase as follows:
(1) For full-time employees who are not given a salary
increase during the regular session of the Legislature, two
thousand five, a one-time salary adjustment of one thousand
dollars;
(2) For part-time employees who are not given a salary
increase during the regular session of the Legislature, two
thousand five, a one-time salary adjustment pro rated based on a
percentage of one thousand dollars equal to the percentage of part
time to full-time employment;
(3) For full-time employees who are not given a salary
increase of at least one thousand dollars during the regular
session of the Legislature, two thousand five, a one-time salary
adjustment to bring the total increase to one thousand dollars; and
(4) For part-time employees who are not given a pro rata
salary increase based on one thousand dollars for full-time
employees during the regular session of the Legislature, two
thousand five, a one-time salary adjustment pro rated to bring the
total increase to a percentage of one thousand dollars equal to the
percentage of part-time to full-time employment.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide a one-time
salary increase of one thousand dollars to state employees who do
not otherwise receive a one thousand dollar salary increase during
the 2005 regular session.
