A BILL to amend article five, chapter five of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section five, relating to providing an annual salary increase to state employees in the years two thousand two, two thousand three and two thousand four.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article five, chapter five of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section five, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 5. SALARY INCREASE FOR STATE EMPLOYEES.
§5-5-5. Annual salary increase for state employees.
(a) On the first day of July, two thousand two, every eligible employee shall receive, in addition to the experience increment increase provided for in section two of this article, an annual salary increase of one thousand dollars.
(b) On the first day of July, two thousand three, every eligible employee shall receive, subject to an appropriation by the Legislature, and in addition to the experience increment increase provided for in section two of this article, an annual salary increase of one thousand dollars.
(c) On the first day of July, two thousand four, every eligible employee shall receive, subject to an appropriation by the Legislature, and in addition to the experience increment increase provided for in section two of this article, an annual salary increase of one thousand dollars.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide an annual salary increase of $1000 to state employees in the years 2002, 2003 and 2004.
