Requesting the Division of Highways name bridge number 20-079/00-008.48 (SB) (20A505), Latitude 38.44906, Longitude -81.51358, locally known as Little Sandy Creek bridge 8.48 SB, carrying Interstate 79 over CR 45 and Little Sandy Creek in Kanawha County, the "U.S. Army Private First Class Charles H. Moore Memorial Bridge."
Whereas, PFC Moore was born on February 18, 1921, in Kettle, Roane County; and
Whereas, PFC Moore enlisted in the United States Army as a Combat Infantryman; and
Whereas, PFC Moore was killed in action on September 8, 1944, in Belgium, and laid to rest in the Epinal American Cemetery in France; and
Whereas, It is fitting that an enduring memorial be established to commemorate Private First Class Charles H. Moore and his contributions to our state and country; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name bridge number 20-079/00-008.48 (SB) (20A505), Latitude 38.44906, Longitude -81.51358, locally known as Little Sandy Creek bridge 8.48 SB, carrying Interstate 79 over CR 45 and Little Sandy Creek, the "U.S. Army Private First Class Charles H. Moore Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the bridge as the "U. S. Army PFC Charles H. Moore Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
