A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §7-5-2a, relating to authorizing county officers to accept credit cards as a form of payment.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §7-5-2a, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 5. FISCAL AFFAIRS.

§7-5-2a. Credit cards as form of payment.

    Notwithstanding any code provision to the contrary, county officers required or authorized to collect fines, fees, taxes or other moneys provided by law, may accept credit cards in payment. County officers may set a fee to be added to each transaction equal to the charge paid by the county officers for the use of the credit card by the person using the card as a form of payment. Acceptance of a credit card as a form of payment shall be in accordance with the rules and requirements set forth by the credit card provider.




    NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to authorize county officers to accept credit cards as a form of payment.
