A BILL to amend article twenty-three, chapter eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section twenty-five, relating to mandating that the West Virginia University and Marshall University football teams play each other annually beginning in the year two thousand three; and providing that the game site be rotated between the universities each year.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article twenty-three, chapter eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section twenty-five, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 23. ADDITIONAL POWERS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF GOVERNING BOARDS OF STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION.

§18-23-25. West Virginia University and Marshall University football teams to play annually.
The governing boards of West Virginia University and Marshall University shall direct the athletic directors of the respective universities to schedule annually a football game between West Virginia University and Marshall University, beginning in the year two thousand five. The game scheduled in two thousand three shall be played at West Virginia University, and thereafter the game site shall be rotated each year between the universities.


NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to mandate that the West Virginia University and Marshall University football teams play each other annually, beginning in 2003.
