A BILL to amend and reenact section twelve-a, article two, chapter five-b of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to authorizing tourism to expend moneys from the tourism fund for West Virginia Celebration 2000 for matching nongovernmental moneys; providing use of moneys to promote West Virginia Celebration 2000; and setting forth expiration date.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section twelve-a, article two, chapter five-b of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. WEST VIRGINIA DEVELOPMENT OFFICE.

§5B-2-12a. Tourism fund support of West Virginia Celebration 2000.
(a) Notwithstanding the provisions of section twelve of this article, the tourism commission may expend moneys from the tourism promotion fund in the amount necessary to support the annual meeting of the southern legislative conference activities of West Virginia Celebration 2000 which will be held in this state in the month of July, one thousand nine hundred ninety-seven. throughout the calendar year two thousand and the fiscal year two thousand one. These moneys may be used to match nongovernment moneys which are provided for sponsorship for West Virginia Celebration 2000 events.
(b) The provisions of this section expire on the first day of September July, one thousand nine hundred ninety-seven two thousand one.


NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide for expenditure of moneys from the tourism fund to match private funds to promote West Virginia Celebration 2000.
