Requesting the Governor to take suitable public notice on Monday, February 21, 2000, and on the third Monday of February of each succeeding year thereafter, as "White Coat Day," in honor, recognition and appreciation of all medical doctors of this state.

Whereas, West Virginia's 3,000 physicians practice around the clock to care for patients of all ages in life-threatening situations throughout our state; and
Whereas, Both our active and retired physicians donate their time generously to provide medical services to our uninsured citizens at free clinics in rural and urban communities all over West Virginia; and
Whereas, Our physicians and their spouses dedicate their lives to the health and well-being of West Virginians by educating our youth about the dangers of tobacco use and school violence, by working with the victims of domestic violence, and by promoting public health awareness on a variety of subjects; and
Whereas, Our physicians and their spouses are working to improve access to health care for all citizens of our state today and in the years to come; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Governor take suitable public notice of Monday, February 21, 2000, and the third Monday in each succeeding February hereafter, as "White Coat Day" to honor and appreciate the wonderful men and women who are our West Virginia physicians.
