Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

    The purpose of this bill is to require delivery trucks used for local multi-stop deliveries to be equipped with properly installed back up alarm systems.
    The Division of Motor Vehicles is required by this legislation to develop rules to implement the provisions of this section.
    Enforcement of this bill will be dependent on the local law enforcement agencies.
    The Division does not have a means to readily identify those vehicles used as delivery services in local communities. To remedy this situation the Division would create a new lass of registration plate for delivery services. This would asist local law enforcement in enforcning the provisions of this bill.
    Enforcement would also have to come from the motor vehicle inspection program to require that vehicles engaged in delivery have the required equipment.
    The Division estimates that the cost to develop legislative rules and create the new registration class is approximately $15,000 plus the $5.00 for each plate produced.
    No revenues are associated with this bill.
