The WVDOC does not record statistics on assaults that specifically include an attempt to disarm so we are unable to predict how many additional inmates may be sentenced to our custody as a result of this proposed legislation. However, for each additional inmate sentenced if this bill becomes law, the state can expect a cost of $23,674 per year they are incarcerated (average cost per inmate in FY 2011). Offenders in WVDOC custody, serving 1-5 year sentences typically discharge their sentence after 2.5 years (23,674 x 2.5 = $59,185) if they do not receive parole earlier.
