Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

The purpose of this bill is to require the Department of Health and Human Resources to reimburse the circuit clerk of the county where involuntary commitment hearings are held for expenses of filing, postage, and copies.
This bill transfers the costs for filing, postage and copies related to involuntary commitment hearings, from the circuit clerk of the county where the hearing is held to the Department of Health and Human Resources. The Department estimates that the minimum cost to comply with the proposed legislation would be $119,140. The estimate is based on known commitments, which is the only information available. The number of total hearings , including those where the individual was not committed, was not available, however, this would increase the cost.
