Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


The purpose of this bill is to give a $1,500 salary increase to Department of Health and Human Resources employees who earn less than $50,000 a year. The Department estimates the cost for this bill to be $7,629,120, comprised of $5,200,410 state funding and $2,428,710 of special or federal funding.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):


The above costs were derived by applying a $1,500 salary increase to those individuals within the Department making less than $50,000 base salary (excluding annual increment). Additionally, some of the federal funding streams are capped thereby causing a shift for this increase to state funding in some instances.
