Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to authorize the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles to issue a special registration plate for persons who are residents of this state and who have a family member diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder who operates a motor vehicle in this state.
This bill establishes a one-time initial application fee of $10, and an annual fee of $15 in addition to all other required fees. The division has been paying $6.80 for similar plates, plus $5 for administrative costs. Total cost to issue a plate is $11.80.
