Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This bill would give the DOC the authority to monitor and share any electronic communications from inmates similarly to how mail and phone communications are currently monitored.
The DOC anticipates that this ability would be a cost savings to the state as result of increased ability to interdict contraband and reduction of direct staff monitoring of physical mail.
