Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
This Bill will increase RJA spending by approximately $2,634,522 each of the next 3 years and going forward. In FY 2020, when the Bill is completely implemented the RJA will have an increase in spending of $7,903,566 and each year forward.
Memorandum
The RJA believes that the increase in the starting base pay for RJA positions must be increased in order to help with the recruitment of new Correctional Officers. The DMAPS officials are tasked with working with DOP officials to develop new pay scales that can be implemented that deal with the base pay increases. The RJA does not offer any estimates on how this Bill will help with the recruitment of new Correctional Officers in the future.
