Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
The $200,000 per fiscal year estimated above will allow the Division of Forestry to provide two full-time employees to the new state park harvesting initiative. Each employee will be provided a state truck and all employee uniforms, supplies and technical equipment necessary to perform his or her duties.
We estimate that approximately 6.7 million board feet will be harvested from state park forestlands, generating $1,500,000 for the Division of Natural Resources annually.
Memorandum
Although the Division of Forestry is expecting to spend $200,000 per year to assist DNR in this effort, the Division of Natural Resources has agreed to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding that will include the Division of Forestry invoicing the Division of Natural Resources to provide the timber-marking service, handling the timber sale, etc.
