The primary cost of the bill is in the salary of the proposed magistrate and his or her assistant. These salaries are set by statute, and those salaries and cost of benefits (estimated) are as follows:
1 magistrate salary = $57,500
1 magistrate benefits = $20,705
Total = $78,205
1 mag asst salary = $39,852
1 mag asst benefits = $17,202
Total = $57,054
Total cost of bill's salaries and benefits per year = $135,259
Other minor costs would be associated with the positions created by the bill, including certain legal library costs, computer costs, and office supply costs.
