Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
In relation to the Patient Injury Compensation Fund (PICF)and pursuant to ยง29-12D-1a, the West Virginia Board of Medicine assesses physicians licensed by the Board, or seeking license a $125.00 fee as part of the renewal or initial licensing process. This fee is an online payment that is received by the West Virginia State Treasure's Office. For each transaction the Treasure's Office charges a 2.25% fee for processing the on-line credit card payment, which is paid by The Board of Medicine. On a quarterly basis the Board of Medicine submits an invoice to the Board of Risk and Insurance Management and is reimbursed for this processing fee.
Extending the PICF assessment has a negligible financial impact on the Board's budget.
