Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
There is no estimated cost to the State or county boards of education related to the proposed legislation. This proposed legislation would provide teachers and service personnel serving as a member of a part-time elected municipal or county office the same release time as a teacher or service personnel who serves as a member of the Legislature. Members of the Legislature are provided unpaid time off from their duties at the county board of education, so there would be no cost to the county for granting such unpaid leave to individuals who are elected to a municipal or county office.
