Fiscal Note Summary


Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


The purpose of this bill is to provide additional benefits to juvenile victims of abuse and neglect cases for services not covered by Medicaid or other resources. The bill adds psychological care as an allowable claim per the Claims Due Against the State - Compensation Awards to Victims of Crime statute (ยง14-2A); provides that the filing of a civil abuse and neglect petition in a circuit court on behalf of a minor child shall satisfy the reporting requirements of same; and authorizes the agency filing the petition to file an application for benefits from the Compensation Awards, as allowed, on behalf of the minor child. The DHHR estimates no fiscal impact relating to this bill.
