Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Roughly 95% of the fees collected by the Authority are provided to county governments each year to maintain their courthouse buildings. The CFIA has only 1 employee. This legislation would eliminate approximately $350,000 annually from our grant awards line item. The CFIA currently awards 20 - 25 grants per year to counties. This legislation would reduce that by ~4 grants/year. Counties hire contractors, engineers and/or architects with the funds that they are provided by the CFIA. Therefore, the CFIA funding directly impacts the local economy. Companies such as Allegheny Restoration, C & D Waterproofing, Alpha Construction, Harris Brothers, Minghini's General Contractors and Brewer & Co. have most recently been impacted by CFIA grants to counties.
