Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
There is no estimated cost to the State for the proposed legislation. County boards of education would incur an additional cost for implementing this requirement, which would be funded locally or with School Building Authority (SBA) grant funds. It is anticipated that any cost for new construction projects would be minimal since the county boards of education can plan accordingly for any additional plumbing that might be needed for a water bottle filling station. While still expected to be nominal, the cost for a renovated school may be slightly higher than new construction since modifications to existing plumbing may be needed to comply with the requirement.
