Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to create the West Virginia Children’s Vision Act, requiring school children to have vision examinations.
Eye exams are currently covered by Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Medicaid. The utilization of the exams could increase, but would have a negligible fiscal impact on the department.
