Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation Section currently manages a robust volunteer program which specifically includes a healthy trail maintenance component. The Adopt-A-Trail program in the state park system is currently managed at the park level by individual Superintendents, who maintain the trails and understand where volunteers would be most beneficial to the area. With the passage of SB562, The Parks and Recreation Section would be required to dismantle the existing program and evolve a program within the parameters of the bill.
