Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to increase the maximum annual dental coverage for Medicaid recipients from $1,000 to $1,500.
The cost to increase the dental benefit from $1,000 per member per year to $1,500 is estimated at $23,957,000; this amount is comprised of $4,621,305 in state dollars and $19,335,695 in federal dollars.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
The Department of Health and Human Resources shall extend Medicaid coverage to adults age 21 and over covered by the Medicaid program for diagnostic and preventative dental services and restorative dental services, excluding cosmetic services. This coverage is limited to $1,500 each budget year.
The $500 increase was applied to the total utilization numbers. There were 47,914 members served in 2021. The increase in current expenses is $23,957,000 (47,914 x $500).
