The purpose of this bill is to decrease mandatory liability minimums and remove excess coverage requirements for county boards of education. This legislation, in its current form, has no estimated cost to the State. However, there is an anticipated savings to the county boards of education since the required amount of insurance coverage is being decreased.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
This legislation, in its current form, has no estimated cost to the State. However, there is an anticipated savings to the county boards of education since the required amount of insurance coverage is being decreased.
The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) does not have access to the data necessary to calculate the potential savings.
Memorandum
The WVDE recommends that the State Board of Risk and Insurance Management (BRIM) be given the opportunity to provide information on the potential fiscal impact of this proposed legislation.
