Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
There would be a cost to the agency for this. There are many factors. This program could require more staffing at facilities that would participate and that FTE cost is approximate $53393 for a Correctional Officer which includes their benefit package. There may be equipment to include vehicles for transport.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
There would have to be Staff Supervision and this could have an effect on budgets. I submitted what two additional Correctional Officers would cost the facility should this be enacted. There may be additional cost with a transportation vehicle typically a van that would also increase the cost to the agency. There could be costs of equipment but facilities usually have this type equipment. The projected cost is for one facility as each facility that would participate would face similar additional expense.
Memorandum
There would be an impact on staffing and equipment which i have listed above that would effect the agency. This would be compounded at every facility that would have this program in place. Many times facilities do this work but having daily routine maintenance to cemeteries would incur the aforesaid costs. There is also an unknow cost in what the inmate would be paid. Currently inmates that work Community Service Crews are paid through the Department of Highway or through our budgets. This usually equates to $1.00 to $1.50 an hour.
