Fiscal Note Summary


Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


This bill will increase the cost of Personal Services by increasing salaries for magistrates, justices of the Supreme Court of Appeals, circuit judges, and family court judges. The salary increases in this Fiscal Note are based on the House Committee on Finance recommendations. The pay increases are staggered as follows: July 1, 2020, the annual salary of Family Court Judges increased to $103,950. July 1, 2021, the annual salary of Supreme Court Justices increased to $142,800; the annual salary of Circuit Judges increased to $132,300; the annual salary of Magistrates increased to $60,375. July 1, 2022, the annual salary of Supreme Court Justices increased to $149,600; the annual salary of Circuit Judges increased to $138,600; the annual salary of Magistrates increased to $63,250.
