Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
The WVDE presently provides an education to adults in correctional facilities and regional jails using the appropriations made through Fund 0314. Of the total appropriation of $23,547,943, $7.2 million, or approximately 31%, of this appropriation is used for the education of adult students at these facilities.
No additional funding is required so long as funding levels remain at their current level. Although it cannot be projected at this time, additional funding may be needed if the population of adults housed at correctional facilities and regional jails increased so dramatically that additional teachers would be required.
