Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This bill broadens the class of persons (foster parent, adoptive parent, legal guardian, court appointed guardian ad litem) who may apply on behalf of a child in foster care for benefits from the Crime Victims Compensation Fund. Children in foster care are already eligible for benefits from the Fund; currently, only the agency filing the civil abuse and neglect petition may file the application. This bill also authorizes the release of information and records for purposes of evaluating eligibility for benefits awarded by the Crime Victim Compensation Fund. These provisions do not have a fiscal impact on the Legislative Claims Commission and the Crime Victims Compensation Fund.
