Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to remove the $0.50 fee charged and deposited in the Combined Voter Registration and Driver’s Licensing Fund for each driver’s license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The Division does not anticipate any fiscal impact from this legislation. However, it should be noted that the Division does incur costs associated with the execution of its legal responsibilities associated with the activities which generate these funds. The Division estimates the cost for each transaction to be $1.26. For a total FY21 cost of $410,677.
