Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to expand prohibitions on distracted driving of motorists utilizing a wireless communication device or stand-alone electronic device.
The Division estimates it will incur programming costs of $4,500 (50 hours @ $90 per hour).
The bill also creates the circumstance for a driver’s license to be either revoked or suspended contingent upon the court’s discretion or conviction. Should this happen it would trigger the collection of a $50 reinstatement fee. However, the Division does not have the statistical data to support an estimate of the revenue that could be generated, so no such estimate is included in this fiscal note.
