Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The passage of this bill would allow WVDCR facility staff to utilize this program, if it was determined their death was a proximate result of their job duty.
WDCR staff work in congregate facilities where exposure to COVID is nearly impossible to avoid. Since the beginning of the pandemic, it is estimated that four WVDCR staff have died because of COVID, however, it is uncertain how many of those would be certified a death as a proximate result of their duty, therefore, we would estimate the fiscal impact to the state of West Virginia would be at most $200,000 to $400,000.
