Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
This proposed legislation, in its current form, will not have any fiscal impact on the West Virginia Board of Education (State Board) because any additional duties of the State Board, as contemplated by this proposed legislation, would be absorbed as additional regular business items. Specifically, this proposed legislation would not cause there to be additional meetings of the State Board or cause a need for additional State Board staff. Currently, the State Board’s operating budget is for administrative costs and normal operations; however, if unanticipated additional costs for the State Board would arise as a result of this proposal, the State Board’s administrative budget would not be sufficient to cover the costs.
