Fiscal Note Summary


Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


The purpose of this bill is to eliminate the provisions of Code authorizing state police to inspect vehicle inspection stations, require all vehicle inspection stations to post a surety bond with the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, and to establish conditions under which an inspection station will forfeit its surety bond and inspection permit. For the Division of Motor Vehicles one Full Time Equivalent would be required to manage the oversight, of the surety bond process for 1783 inspections. This will also require additional space, equipment and mailing for the Division of Motor Vehicles at a total cost of $48,037
