Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
Based upon statistics from CY 2016, WorkForce West Virginia estimates a potential savings of $176,798 to the Trust Fund due to the change in law that would disqualify an individual from receiving unemployment benefits if he or she left or lost his or her job as a result of a strike. This estimate is based on benefits paid during CY 2016 as a result of two separate labor disputes.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Due to the fact that this law would only change the manner in which Labor Disputes are handled by the Board of Review Tribunal, the agency would not have an actual implementation cost other than advising the appropriate staff of the change in the law. It is anticipated that some savings to the Trust Fund would be reflected. As stated above, based on CY 2016 the Trust Fund would have a savings of $176,798.
