This piece of legislation provides for a $2,000 salary increase to WV State Troopers each year for three years. It also provides for increasing Trooper annual longevity pay from $500 per year to $600.

Estimates were calculated based on the existing 646 funded State Trooper positions and include both the increase to salaries and benefits. The above estimates do not include the increase in fiscal note estimates (Approximately $140,940 year one and $429,867 to General Revenue upon full implementation for the projected 60 person cadet class included in the Governor’s proposed budget (General Revenue Fund 0453-52100). This fiscal note also excludes the civilian employees of the West Virginia State Police whose salaries are not set by code and whose longevity increases would remain at $500 per year per 15-2-7(i).
