Decreases Existing Revenue
Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This legislation if passed could impact the amount of revenue generated for the WV Division of Corrections & Rehabilitation (WVDCR). A county who met the requirements outlined by code would receive a 10% discount on their jail bills for a period of 10 years. However, as there is no way to predict which counties, if any, may meet these requirements, and that the number of jail days billed over the following 10 years is also an unknown, the WVDCR cannot predict the extent of the decreased revenue.
