Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

The purpose of proposed House Bill 2217 is to require local elections to be held at times of General, Primary or State-wide Elections. The provisions of the proposed legislation would require all local elections beginning July 1, 2019 to be held concurrently with otherwise scheduled General, Primary or State-wide Elections. As a result, potential cost savings would be realized by the various counties and municipalities of the State because election costs overall would be reduced. However, there is insufficient data available to the State Auditor concerning the accumulation of those costs which will be avoided by the enactment of the proposed legislation.
