House Bill 2519, if enacted, would allow a person who holds a current and valid license to carry a concealed deadly weapon to carry such a weapon on the campus and in the buildings of a state institution of higher education.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):


The estimated costs provided by the public colleges and universities include expenditures for additional police officers, security guards and other staff, protective gear, weapons, metal detectors, vehicles, body cams, lockers, security cameras, door locks, emergency dispatch space and equipment, and training. Some institutions also anticipate a decrease in enrollment resulting from the enactment of this legislation.
