Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to authorize the Division of Motor Vehicles to issue special motor vehicle plates for municipal fire department vehicles.
The Division estimates it will cost $2,990 (26 hrs. x $115/hr.) for programming the cash register, and $3,600 (40 hrs. x $90/hr.) for mainframe programming. Registration plates of this nature cost approximately $4.15 per plate. The Division estimates that 916 municipal fire department vehicles will convert to the new plate. Total cost for these registration plates would be $3,801 (916 x $4.15). Total Current expense of $10,391 ($2,990 + $3,600 + 3801).

Memorandum
The current demand for technical expertise and support on the Division exceeds our current resource level. This bill will require additional technical expertise and support. Therefore, the Division needs to add an Information Systems Manager 1 position at an estimated annual cost of $79,500 (Salary and Benefits) and a Programmer Analyst 3 position at an estimated annual cost of $75,000 (Salary and Benefits).
