This piece of legislation required law-enforcement officers to submit motor vehicle crash reports to the owners and/or drivers of the vehicles involved in a motor vehicle crash. Although the state would suffer a loss of revenue with this piece of legislation, there would be no direct fiscal impact on the West Virginia State Police. Please see Memorandum section below for further detail.

Fees from the sale of crash reports are collected on behalf of Consolidated Public Retirement Board (CPRB) by the West Virginia State Police and credited toward Death, Disability and Retirement Fund (Plan A). Collections deposited with CPRB from the fees associated with crash reports totaled $87,057 for FY2019.
