SPEAKER ARMSTEAD STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT TRUMP'S STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- House Speaker Tim Armstead, R-Kanawha, tonight issued the following statement in response to President Donald J. Trump's State of the Union address.

"I applaud the President for setting forth an optimistic, aggressive, America-first agenda that will lead to new jobs and investment in our nation and state," Speaker Armstead said. "As the President declared, he has ended the 'War on Coal,' and our miners are already starting to head back to work. I look forward to his infrastructure investment plan, which will build upon our own state Roads to Prosperity plan, and am confident his recent tax reforms will begin to boost West Virginians’ paychecks in the coming weeks.

"The state of our union and state is strong and getting stronger each day, and I believe bold, conservative leadership both in Washington and here at home have set our nation and our state on the right track toward greater prosperity."
