Senate Redistricting Task Force Nears End of Public Meeting Schedule

Charleston, WV- Chairman of the West Virginia State Senate Redistricting Task Force, Senator John Unger, (D-Berkeley), announced the rapidly approaching end of the public informational meeting schedule.

“These meetings have allowed the public to inform us in person about how they think their districts should be arranged,” said Chairman Unger. “Hundreds of citizens have taken the opportunity to use our public forum to express their concerns, as well as making comments on our website forum.”

Meanwhile, many citizens have also provided feedback in other, more conventional ways.

"I have been approached by several members of the community, my patients and county officials letting me know what they think about redistricting," said Senator Ron Stollings, Vice Chairman of the Senate Redistricting Task Force. "Many people have strong feelings about how they want to see things fall out."

“By the end of the process, whether they have come to the meetings, commented online, called, written, emailed or just caught us while we were out, the citizens of West Virginia will have had the opportunity to be heard regarding redistricting,” said Unger, “and we will not let all that input go to waste.”

The following are the final meetings on the schedule:

June 25, 2011 (Sat) 10-11:30am

Buckhannon, WV

Christopher Hall of Science, Hyma Auditorium (on campus)

West Virginia Wesleyan College 59 College Avenue Buckhannon, WV 26201

July 21, 2011 (Thu) 7-8:30pm
