Delegate Brady Paxton of the 13th Delegate District was appointed by Speaker of the House Richard Thompson to chair the Committee on Homeland Security in the 81st Legislature. Paxton says, “I’m really excited to work with the first responders and I intend to work in concert with firefighters, police, emergency medical personnel, the Army, Navy, Marines and Reserves in addition to Washington, D.C officials." The House Committee on Homeland Security works with the House Committee on Veterans Affairs regarding issues of security and issues pertaining to veterans. “Everyone knows the price of freedom is not free and no price is too great to pay for the security of our American citizens,” Paxton said. Paxton added, “my door is always open for suggestions or any issues that anyone wishes to bring to my attention.” The committee will meet throughout session and input from citizens is always welcome.
