Corey Palumbo

Senator Corey Palumbo Chosen to be Minority Whip for 83rd Legislature

CHARLESTON – Incoming Senate Minority Leader Roman Prezioso, D-Marion, has announced that Senator Corey Palumbo, D-Kanawha, will serve as Minority Whip for the 83rd Legislature, which begins its 60-day session in February. Palumbo will officially assume his duties on January 11, 2017.

“As I listened to all of my colleagues, one name kept coming back to the top of the list, and that’s Senator Palumbo,” Prezioso said. “His experience and demeanor, as well as his universal respect from members, makes him well suited to help tackle the challenges we have before us in the Senate.”

Senator Palumbo was elected to the House of Delegates in 2002, and was elected to his first term in the Senate in 2008. He served as Senate Judiciary Chairman from 2011 to 2014. He is an attorney with Bowles Rice in Charleston.

“I am very honored and humbled to have been named Minority Whip by Senator Prezioso,” Palumbo said. “I’m excited to begin working with President-elect Carmichael, Minority Leader Prezioso and the rest of my colleagues to move our state forward.”
