Senator Boso Updates Nicholas County Residents About Emergency Operations in Richwood

CHARLESTON – Senator Greg Boso, R-Nicholas, is providing information regarding where residents of Richwood and other flood-affected areas of Nicholas County can seek assistance.

Heavy rains have been moving through the area for about 24 hours, and high winds and flooding have created several hazards throughout the area. Senator Boso, who also serves on the Summersville Volunteer Fire Department, is working with local agencies in Nicholas County to monitor the situation at Summit Lake and is working with emergency management personnel to evacuate the portions of Richwood that are experiencing high water.

“This is a hundred-year type of weather event, and my prayers are certainly with the residents of Richwood,” Senator Boso said. “I am working diligently with local officials and first responders, as well as the Governor’s office and Congressman Evan Jenkins, to provide all of the assistance I can, and we will continue to watch this situation closely as it develops through the night.”

An emergency shelter is being set up at Liberty Baptist Church in Richwood. Other shelters may be set up during the evening and into Friday. Residents are encouraged to call the Nicholas County Emergency Operations Center at 304-872-7892 for information and assistance.
